Hi,
I've recently been working on an old 4500 and after a lot of re-furbishing, every time I turn the printer on I get a "drum life out - replace kit" followed by a 54.2 - No carousel movement error which after several hours I can't seem to clear - the carousel is completely lifeless. All relevant sensors checked / cleaned, 24v DC present on the DC Controller + all plugs / sockets OK on DC Controller and Developer board. Testing the carousel in diag mode - no life, but drum test seems fine. Anyone seen this problem? Jack. |

Is the wiring correct going to ps10 and ps11?
Check the connectors on the developing board. Sometimes the pugs/sockets have loose connections. The diagnostics from memory only test one of the sensors, therefore you need to swop them over to test in diagnostics. When running diags you can take the ITB draw out and watch things turning. You say that you have done a lot of re-furbishing? Beware, if you have disturbed the waste toner sensor, you could distroy a working drum. The printer will think that the drum has a full waste toner cavity and mark the drum as being end of life? Hope this helps |

Hi,
Eventually fixed the problem - as the carousel wasn't turning at all and I checked 24v on the DC controller OK I deduced that it must be either the carousel drive motor or the developer board - it turned out to be a duff developer board - swapped and all OK. Cheers, Jack. |
