I have a system that is running OpenVMS V7.3-2. The system has reported that the service obligation has expired on the system event analyser. There is a dcl command that can be used to change the expiry date, but it has slipped my memory. Could you please oblige...

Hi Bob,

When you install Webes (part of which is SEA), a Service Obligation of one year is granted - one month before this expires a Mail is sent to all recipients on the local Mailing list to inform you that the obligation will expire.

Once the obligation has expired then all notifications will cease to be sent and the web interface will be unavailable - see extract from the SEA user guide below (available on the Web from here:

2.6 Service Obligation

A system(s) service obligation specifies your service provider, service agreement information,
and the duration of your agreement. During the WEBES installation process, you are
prompted to enter the service obligation information, and this information gets included with the results of SEA analysis.

Although SEA continues to function without a valid service obligation, local notification and
reporting are disabled. In addition, the web interface does not operate if the service obligation
has expired.
Sections 3.12 and 6.12 explain how to view your service obligation.

To re-invoke this obligation the Customer MUST renew their contract and receive a valid service obligation.

As we discussed this morning - they are using WEBes 4.3 - I would suggest 2 actions:

1 - Upgrade to 4.4-1 - the latest version - rule sets tidied up and the wsea test functionality re-introduced.
2 - Renew their service contract to obtain a new service obligation.

Hope this helps - regards,

How do I get out of here?

in simple terms
CLI:
desta servob show dosn't show you much!
wsea n status this will show you a bit more about dates
desta servob change fill in as required
WEB:
http://"ip address":7902/obligation
this is good as it will show all dates, expiry etc but you must make sure that the desta director is running on the node for this to work.

I would also suggest that you get the latest WEBES kit & install as per spidermans info above.

Regards Smiler
