Hi all
i am having an issue where on my Rapid Deployment Pack server i am unable to pick up the c-class enclosure within the deployment console. Everything appears to be ok and i can see my management server (which is the RDP server)in the console but no c-class....any ideas? Enclosure has IP bay addressing and is on the same subnet as the Server, DHCP is functioning correctly and if i pxe boot one of the blades it loads the pxe image from the RDP server. Another quickie...do the cross link ports (17+18) on the 2GbE switch cross link automatically? Thanks in advance, Steve |

Hi Steve,
Does RDP reside on the same management server as dhcp/pxe, and have there been any VLAN's created which may mask out the management server(you can check this serially or through the management console of the Gbe2 switch). I await your response on this matter. As regards the crosslinks, I have two pieces of documentation which contradict each other. The Gbe2 user guide indicates that ONLY downlinks, and uplinks are enabled, and ports 17, and 18 (xlinks) are DISABLED. We have a Gbe2, and a CISCO 3020 Catalyst in bays 1 and 2 respectively (not recommended!), so I am unable to prove this for you, however, the serial console, or the browser management console will provide you with "port status" information and should answer your question if you have this vendor type installed, of course in a redundant configuration. |

Hi Paul
RDP does reside on the same managment server as the DHCP scope and PXE, if you attempt to pxe boot a blade it obtains an IP address and starts to load the ramdisk image and you see the HP RDP splash. The enclousre is on the same ip range as the management server although the server does have 2 nic's one on the management network one on corp network with routing and remote access config to allow access to OA/iLO's from the corp network. i have now fully powered off the enclosure in some vain hope that this may resolve the issue but no such luck as yet. All firmware is up to date and RDP is v 3.70. Thanks Steve |

Hi all
Just an update, i reinstalled the sever from scratch and then installed HP SIM and then RDP 3.70, once again it was excatly the same. i have since reinstalled the server again but this time i installed 3.60 and everyhting has worked first time and it is behaving in the way that i would expect (currently deploying server after running a test). i have logged a call with HP support (the first time i have called HP) and i must admit i was shocked at how poor the whole experience was Thanks |

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the updates. We've (that's the course and I),have just been discussing your plight, and general consensus is that with your current configuration there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to see youe Blades. At HOST we are running RDP V3.6 with no issues (that's with dhcp, and pxe residing on the same management server). I will install RDP V3.7 and view the results with interest, and will keep you posted on the outcome. Regards Paul P.S. Yes Bangalore can be a little trying at times, in fairness they did deal with my warranty call reasonably well, they just kept calling me Mr Arrowsmit, without the "h" ! |
