I have one server that uses one msa1000 san for its storage and currently uses a locally attached sdlt for its backups. I have another msa1000 san that has an msl5026 library attached to its fabric. Is there any reason why I cannot attach the server to the 2nd san to use the library. Is it possible to attach a server to 2 fabrics? The server is win2k server. I would guess that it should be feasible.
This shouldn't be a big problem - but you may run into some issues around library sharing on the 2nd SAN. Make sure you understand your backup application requirements for tape sharing - you may need to reconfigure the MSL's router and the zoning (if you're using zoning) will have to be reconfigured. Depending what backup software you're using, you may have to get extra licenses. You will probably need another HBA to connect up your server too.
