Hi all, been a while now hasnt it.

Anyone know where i can get firmware package S63D from, for use with LTT4.5. I've exhausted my ability to find this on the HP web site and I'm all Googled out.

I have 2 drives at S24D that need upgrading ASAP.

TIA

Andy

Hello Andy,

I always find the easiest way to get tape drive firmware is to run L&TT......!!

Just put it on a laptop - fire it up - then go to <file> ----> <get files from web> then select just the firmware you want. (You don't need to have any tape devices attached)

I tried this - and downloaded the file you need:
LTT_Ultrium_2-SCSI_S63D_STANDALONE.frm

I tried attaching it - but at 800KB+ it exceeds what I can attach on this forum page.
Anyway, L&TT will not let you load a corrupted file, or a file that isn't 'correct' for the device that you are trying to load it on........ foolproof eh???

Give it a go

Good luck

FT

Hhhmmmm....... Must be something different about your L&TT !!! - like I said, it downloaded for me OK when I installed V4.5 on my laptop - did you run it from CD maybe ?? - if so it needs a temporary location on a hard drive to store downloaded files.

If you give me a mail address, or dropbox I could send the file to you

Let me know

Cheers

...........Forgot to ask - is this a "bog-standard" 448 (standalone) - or is there anything "quirky" about it ?? - if L&TT can't identify it correctly, it won't be able to find the correct firmware file !!.

Yes 2 Bog standard drives in a 1U rack unit. LTT says it needs an upgrade but when I go to download I get an error. I think realistically this is proxy related.

I think the HP website wants to use active FTP - if you're using a proxy connection for web access, then you're right - it probably don't allow it !! - (I remember a similar problem with an MSL5000 problem some time ago !!).

The workround would be to get to a site where you can download the code to a PC with L&TT - (seems like you'll have the problem whatever code you try to download!). once you have the code - you can copy it to the server that has the drive attached, and then 'point' L&TT to the local firmware file.

As a more general point, HP don't seem to publish firmware code on their public websites anymore - they expect you to use L&TT (or Command View TL exclusively). That way they retain control of which code gets used on their drives - which is not a bad idea really.

Like I say, if you need this firmware and can't get it any other way- post a private topic to me with your email address, and I'll send you the file.

Regards

FT
